The State Health Department will soon decide which five organizations will become the state’s first medical marijuana manufacturers, running what will be 20 drug dispensaries throughout the state. In the first of her two-part report, Health Reporter Erin Billups takes a closer look.
Legal, medical marijuana cannot come soon enough for many New Yorkers and State Health Commissioner Howard Zucker says the program is on track.
“We are on target to move this forward and have this operational by the beginning of the next calendar year,” says Zucker.
Valley Agriceuticals is one of the companies competing for five state cannabis licenses. President Eric Holling has joined with a big Israeli medical marijuana company – Seach – to help them develop their operations, which would be based in the Hudson Valley.
