30 Apr Town of Wallkill to support Medical Marijuana facility
Wallkill Valley Times – The Wallkill Town Board is expected to throw its support behind a proposed medical marijuana agricultural facility at their work session tonight, following a positive reaction from residents last week.
“It’s really great what you guys are doing,” said Russell Brooks, of Dosen Road, where the facility would be located. “I’d be proud to have something like that in my neighborhood.”
Support for the project came gradually over the course of a public information meeting last week, heavily attended by local residents who expressed concerns ranging from security to health and environmental impacts.
Also at the meeting were representatives from Valley Agriceuticals, whose project is composed of greenhouses and barn structures at Dosen and Cortright roads, where marijuana (pharmaceutical-grade cannabis) would be grown and processed to create medicinal oils and pills.
“We’re doing something new and different,” said Erik Holling, president of Valley Agriceuticals. “This is new medicine.” Read More
